Directed by Jessica Cox, a world class ballerina with a multitude of experience and accolades, JLC Dance Company is able to offer some of the most in depth and knowledgeable ballet classes in Australia. Ballet involves a lot of technique and discipline and lacking either one of those will not only hinder your child's growth as a dancer but also pose safety risks, with Jessica's advanced diploma in classical ballet (WAAPA) we are able to ensure the safety and growth of our students to the upmost standards.

 Lyrical dance is a combination of ballet and jazz dance that often uses  music with lyrics to inspire the movements of the dancer. Choreographers  use the lyrics from the song to inspire the dance and the result is a  style that focuses on strong emotion as well as a more individual  approach than some dance styles. It is also a very precise dance with  the dancer’s movements portraying the emotion and story of the song. 

Our Combo Classes are designed so our beginner dancers can get a taste of the main dance genres - Ballet, jazz and Tap. At JLC we want to foster the love of dance, not sell 3 separate classes unnecessarily.

With Jessica Cox' experience, dancing for the Moulin Rouge in Paris, our jazz classes are second to none. Having been 1 of 3 dances dancers from Australia to be chosen to dance in the moulin rouge show Jessica's knowledge in this  

 Contemporary dance is a style of interpretive dance that embraces  innovation, blending techniques from various genres, including classical ballet, jazz, and Lyrical.  This genre of dance, which focuses more on floor work over leg work and  pointe, isn’t restricted by the rules that govern traditional dance  forms. Instead, it relies on improvisation and versatility and is  characterized by freedom of movement and fluidity, letting dancers  explore the mind-body connection and ideally evoking emotion in the  audience. 

 Hip hop dance is a style of street dance form that evolved from hip hop culture and hip hop music.  It borrows elements from a number of different styles like African  dance, tap, and ballet. Hip hop dance began as a freestyle dance  performed in the streets by dance crews, mostly to hip hop music 

Tap dance,  style of dance in which a dancer wearing shoes fitted with heel and toe taps sounds  out audible beats by rhythmically striking the floor or any other hard  surface. 

 Musical theatre dancing is less of a particular style, and more of a description of dancing that is rooted in the diverse history of Broadway musicals.  Relying heavily on a knowledge of ballet, tap, and jazz, musical  theater dancers are, first and foremost, actors and place a high focus  on musical interpretation.
